In this page I provide you guys a few great resources that will help you deepen your understanding on the Civil Rights Movement. These websites are incredibly helpful if you have any additional questions on certain material, you need more information, or if you simply just want to learn more about the Civil Rights Movement:
- This website is hosted by PBS and has webisodes on the different periods of American History. They have quizzes, games, articles, timelines, and additional resources a Teacher or Student can use as supplemental material for a Lesson. Webisodes 14 and 15 pertain to the Civil Rights Movement.
- This website is hosted by PBS AND has a video series called America: The Story of US and it is great to look up small clips that correspond to specific events from this series. It will give students a visual to look at in regards to the lesson being taught.
- This website is hosted by Discovery Education and offers free Lesson Plans for Teachers and also primary sources that can be used within a Lesson. They also have many resources for students, Teachers, and parents.
- This website is amazing! It offers free lesson plans, videos that pertain to the time period being studied, and links to other History websites as additional resources. The Lessons cover every History grade level and class.
- This website is hosted American Experience and includes the biography of all kinds of Freedom Riders along with videos with interviews, timelines, and explanations of various issues in this time period like Jim Crow Laws and Voting. A great resource website to get primary sources and supplementary materials!
- This website is created by Teachers and contains Educational Videos, Lessons, and games for K-12 students. There are educational resources for all grade levels and subject areas including United States History.
- This website is Hosted by the History Channel and has a large library of Famous Speeches and Audio recordings that range from History to Sports to Hollywood that can be used in Lessons as Primary Sources.
- John Greene is a Historian and writer that creates animated videos on various core subjects like Science, English, and Social Studies. His Social Studies begin with Early Mesopotamian History to modern US Government. The videos are an average of 10-15 minutes and provide a colorful and humorous way of looking at History. His videos are posted on Youtube under the Channel "Crash Course".
